One smoke alarm in every circulation space, such as hallways, vestibules and landings.
One smoke alarm in the room most frequently used for general daytime living.
One heat alarm in every kitchen.
Smoke and heat alarms must be interlinked. If one alarm sounds, all alarms sound.
One CO alarm in every room with a fuel-burning appliance eg a boiler, gas hob or fire.
One CO alarm in every room a flue runs through.
Rules require more for HMO properties, eg hardwired smoke alarms in every room, including utility cupboards/boiler rooms.
